The MBT Challenger 2 is one of the most heavily armored tanks in the world, rated as the most durable tank in active deployment by NATO powers. Its features include the turret and the hull which are protected with the second generation Chobham armor, explosive reactive armor kits that are fitted and a nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection system that is located in the turret bustle. Five L8 smoke grenade dischargers are also fitted on each side.
This battle tank is also capable of creating smoke by injecting diesel fuel into the exhaust manifolds and gauss coils fitted beneath its armor that can protect it against EMP blasts generated by possible nuclear detonation in combat operations.
