Nepal has become the world's youngest republic after the abolition of its monarchy when the maoist came to power this year. A special assembly elected in April held its first meeting on Wednesday to declare the new republic. Many Nepalese hope it will be the final chapter of a peace process ending a decade-long war that killed more than 13,000 people. The king was given 15 days to leave the palace and it will be turned into a historical meuseum. His potrait has also been wiped off bank notes and his name disappeared from the national anthem. Link
