Exotic Frilled Shark photographed alive

28.4.08

This is an exotic prehistoric shark called frilled shark, named after its frilled gills, generally remained thousands of feet beneath the water surface. This serpentine creature may look like a huge eel but its cousins are the great-white, hammerhead and other shark species because of its six slitlike gills. It may look like a fearsome hunter, but its generally considered harmless to humans as its main diet includes deep seas squids and some other shark species.
